SNVRK (born Caleb Gottfried; September 16, 2006) is an American scientist and experimental artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is recognized for his interdisciplinary approach to media, blending aggressive sonic production with independent research in cognitive psychology and media theory.
Career
Scientific research
Gottfried's research focuses on the impact of chaotic visual and auditory stimuli on consumer behavior. In 2024, he published a study titled "Ticketstorm as Mass Visual Disruption," which examines the potential for high-density visual information to interfere with standard cognitive filters. This research serves as the theoretical framework for his creative imprint, SNVRKOTICS, which functions as both a record label and a research collective.
Experimental music
Under the alias SNVRK, Gottfried produces experimental music that acts as a practical application of his disruption theories. He first gained widespread notice with the 2024 single "Back to My Roots", which documented his reported experiences of "blackballing" within the music industry following professional interactions with major labels like Interscope Records and the Opium imprint.
In 2025, SNVRK collaborated with Jersey club pioneer Bandmanrill for a "revamp" of Bandmanrill's breakout single "I Am Newark." He also collaborated with Lancey Foux for the song "SLUGZ" on December 6, 2024.
He is currently affiliated with the creative collective AWGE. The music publication Pop-Cultr identified him as a significant emerging talent in 2024, highlighting his ability to merge industrial sounds with personal narratives of independence. He is currently scheduled to release his debut full-length studio album, SNVRKOLEPSY, featuring Funk Flex, Martin Shkreli, and SNEAKO on June 5, 2026.
